Report Reveals 37% Taxes Included in Per Liter Petrol Price in Pakistan

Lahore: Details of the taxes imposed on petroleum products in Pakistan have come to light, revealing that a significant portion of fuel prices is comprised of taxes.
According to sources from the Petroleum Division cited by Geo News, 96.28 PKR per liter of petrol—equivalent to 37% of its price—consists of various taxes. Similarly, diesel includes 34% taxes, amounting to 94.92 PKR per liter.
The Petroleum Division stated that these taxes are levied under customs duty, petroleum levy, and climate levy. This revelation highlights the substantial burden of taxation on everyday fuel purchases for Pakistani citizens.
