Harassment Complaint in Online Taxi Service Prompts Federal Ombudsperson to Demand Full Record

Islamabad: A case of harassment involving a female passenger using an online taxi service has come to light, prompting the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment to take strict notice.
According to details, Federal Ombudsperson Fauzia Waqar has directed the online taxi company to submit a comprehensive report within seven days, including the complete record of harassment complaints received from passengers over the past three years.
The company has been asked to clarify whether an internal inquiry committee exists and to provide details of its internal mechanism for addressing harassment complaints.
Following the allegations, the company’s safety system has also come under scrutiny, and compliance reports have been demanded to ensure proper implementation of anti-harassment protocols.
The case emerged after a female passenger accused a driver of making inappropriate comments and taking the car in the wrong direction. She has formally filed a harassment complaint against the driver.
