Bilili Checkpost Traffic Gridlock a “Daily Ordeal”; Commissioner Orders Rapid Road Completion and Alternate Routes

**Quetta:** Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar has directed authorities to expedite the completion of road construction at Bilili Checkpost and ensure immediate provision of alternate traffic routes, terming the persistent traffic gridlock at the location “nothing less than an ordeal” for the public.

He issued these directions while presiding over a meeting regarding the Pakistan Expressway Dualization Project on National Highway N-25 (Mastung–Quetta–Chaman). The meeting was attended by National Highway Authority (NHA) officials, Deputy Commissioner Quetta Captain (R) Meharullah Badini, SP Traffic Quetta, Director Development Quetta Division Zahoor Ahmed, and other concerned officers.

During the briefing, NHA officials informed the commissioner that construction and rehabilitation work on various sections from Quetta to Chaman is progressing rapidly. Ongoing development includes the Bilili Checkpost to Kuchlak section, work across multiple points up to Chaman, and accelerated improvement efforts at the Lakpass area.

The officials also stated that plans are under consideration to construct flyovers at Kuchlak, Khizi Chowk, and Jabal Noor Bus Terminal to enhance traffic flow. Infrastructure upgrades are also underway in Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Saranan, and Jungle AliZai.

Commissioner Kakar instructed authorities to complete the Bilili Checkpost road work at the earliest and ensure immediate removal of construction debris to prevent inconvenience to commuters. He emphasized that heavy traffic congestion at the checkpost forces citizens to remain stuck for hours, causing severe distress.

He directed the Deputy Commissioner, SP Traffic, and NHA officers to visit Bilili Checkpost the same day and devise alternate routes or traffic management plans to prevent further gridlock. He added that during the construction phase, effective traffic arrangements must be ensured to avoid disruption to daily travel.

The meeting concluded with a detailed review of project components and interdepartmental coordination for timely execution.
