PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Assures: “We Guarantee We Will Not Attack Parliament”

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman **Barrister Gohar Ali Khan** has assured the National Assembly that his party will never attack Parliament, emphasizing their commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.

Addressing the House, Barrister Gohar said, *“We guarantee that we will not attack Parliament. We have always maintained that the Assembly must be strengthened.”* He reiterated that, in PTI’s view, **Mahmood Khan Achakzai** is the rightful Leader of the Opposition, highlighting his family’s sacrifices for democracy. *“Achakzai’s father laid down his life for democracy, yet a resolution is being moved against him,”* he added.

Directing his criticism toward the Speaker, he said, *“Do not take sides with the government. People attacked us here in this House, yet you were unable to protect us.”*

Barrister Gohar expressed disappointment over what he described as the absence of true democratic spirit in the Assembly. *“I believed democracy meant differences of opinion, but that is not what we are witnessing here,”* he remarked.

He further said that PTI is present in Parliament only for the sake of democracy. *“Otherwise, we could set up our own assembly outside. Everyone knows what has been happening in this House.”*

His speech comes amid heightened political tension, with PTI repeatedly voicing concerns over what it calls unequal treatment and attempts to sideline the opposition within parliamentary proceedings.
