PTI Will Not Politicise Imran Khan’s Health in Line with Court Order: KP CM
ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not politicise Imran Khan’s health in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision.
In a statement posted on X, the chief minister welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision directing Imran Khan’s immediate transfer to hospital and allowing his family and personal doctors to be present during his medical examination and treatment.
He described the decision as fair and expressed hope that it would be implemented at the earliest.
Sohail Afridi said government reports had indicated that Imran Khan’s health had deteriorated during his imprisonment. He added that the decision should have been made in February, when PTI had repeatedly demanded that the former prime minister be shifted to hospital and examined and treated under the supervision of his personal doctors.
“PTI will not politicise Imran Khan’s health in accordance with the court’s decision,” he said.
The KP chief minister also expressed hope that the other side would similarly respect the judiciary and its decisions. He said ensuring implementation of the Supreme Court order was the responsibility of the judges and expressed confidence that they would fulfil their duty.
Meanwhile, according to ARY News, Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi met him at Adiala Jail following permission from the Supreme Court. The meeting took place in the conference room at 5:10 p.m. and lasted for 14 minutes.
Noreen Niazi reportedly became emotional after seeing her brother after a long period. After leaving the jail, she confirmed to reporters that the meeting had taken place. Qasim Khan was reportedly stopped in the jail’s parking area.

The Supreme Court has also issued a formal written order directing that Imran Khan be transferred from jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad within two days.
Under the order, a high-level medical board will be formed in consultation with the hospital administration, comprising a physician, general surgeon, internal medicine specialist, ophthalmologist and cardiologist. Dr Faisal Sultan and Imran Khan’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, have been permitted to participate in his medical examination and treatment.
The court ruled that the costs of Imran Khan’s treatment at Shifa International Hospital would be borne by him or his family.
The written order also prohibits family members, PTI leaders and Imran Khan’s lawyers from sharing his health condition or medical reports with the media or public until the next hearing.
The authorities have further been directed to ensure that Imran Khan meets his family once a week and is provided with the facility to speak to his sons by telephone twice a week.
