PTI Memorandum on Access to Imran Khan Submitted to Relevant Authorities: Supreme Court

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — The Supreme Court has confirmed that a memorandum regarding access to PTI Chairman Imran Khan has been formally submitted to the relevant authorities.

According to an official statement, on January 30, PTI parliamentarians held a gathering before the Supreme Court. The Registrar of the Supreme Court met with PTI representatives, and PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja was allowed to meet the Chief Justice. Concerns were raised regarding family access and medical access to the detained PTI leader.

The Supreme Court clarified that the matter was not related to any pending case but was administrative in nature. After review, the concerns were forwarded to the relevant authorities, following which the assembly dispersed peacefully.

On February 6, the opposition leadership again approached the Supreme Court, including leaders from both the Senate and National Assembly. The signed memorandum was officially received by the Registrar and sent once more to the concerned administrative authorities, addressing access to the detained PTI leader and medical report availability.

The Supreme Court announced that SOPs have now been established for handling such matters in the future. The SOPs emphasize institutional dignity, protection of judicial proceedings and rights of other petitioners, regulated access, facilitation, provision of essential services, and emergency medical support to ensure an orderly and disciplined procedure.
