Federal Government Issued Notice for Re-Including Son of Ex-President Arif Alvi in PNIL

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued a notice to the federal government over the re-inclusion of former President Arif Alvi’s son, Awab Alvi, in the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).
A constitutional bench of the SHC issued notices to the federal government and other relevant parties on a petition filed against the inclusion of Awab Alvi and Aftab Jehangir in the PNIL.
During the hearing, Barrister Ali Tahir informed the court that the SHC had earlier ordered the removal of both names from the list, and the directive was implemented. However, only two hours after complying with the court order, the authorities added both names back to the PNIL.
The petitioners argued that the move constitutes a clear violation of the court’s previous order.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to the federal government and all concerned parties, seeking their replies by December 10. The constitutional bench also directed the respondents to explain why the petitioners’ names were re-entered into the list despite the court’s explicit directive.
