Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces “Himmat Card” and Renovation of Special Education Centers Across the Province

Lahore (Daily Qudrat) — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of the “Himmat Card” for special students and the renovation of special education centers across the province. She also declared the establishment of “Centers of Excellence for Special Students” in every district and provision of transportation for each special education center.

Speaking at the inauguration of the School Meal Program for special education students and the Centers of Excellence, CM Maryam Nawaz said the government is investing in special children to help them become productive citizens, emphasizing that autistic children now have access to the first government-run autism school. She praised teachers and special education staff, calling them “special heroes,” and highlighted the unique abilities of children with hearing and visual impairments.

She further stated that 28 districts now have Centers of Excellence, with more under construction, and a total of 313 institutions for special students will be upgraded province-wide. She also acknowledged the role of parents in supporting these children and emphasized the government’s commitment to their welfare.

CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted initiatives such as the School Meal Program, which currently serves 45,000 children, and safety measures including 60 buses equipped with CCTV monitoring for special students. She noted that children are being provided with assistive devices, physiotherapy, speech therapy, IT skills training, and opportunities for employment through these programs.

She also announced the creation of Pakistan’s first government-run School of Autism in Lahore, which has received thousands of applications and will serve as a model institution worldwide. Additionally, special ramps and wheelchairs have been installed in electro buses to facilitate mobility for special children.

Maryam Nawaz stressed that her government’s focus is on practical solutions and infrastructure development for special students rather than political distractions, aiming to ensure their education, safety, and overall well-being.
