ECNEC Approves Three Major Development Projects for Balochistan

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — Senior Provincial Minister of Balochistan, PPP Central Committee member, Parliamentary Leader, and Minister for Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, announced that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved three key development projects for the province.

During a meeting with various delegations at his office, Umrani stated that as an ECNEC member, he strongly represents Balochistan’s interests and is regularly consulted on both new and ongoing national projects. He added that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, and other members have consistently supported development initiatives for the province.

According to Umrani, ECNEC approved the Balochistan Water Resource Development Sector Project (BWRDSP), supported by the Asian Development Bank, to enhance water management and agricultural productivity in two major river basins — Zhob and Mula. The Zhob basin includes Muslim Bagh, Qila Saifullah, and Zhob, while the Mula River project covers Khuzdar, Jhal Magsi, and parts of Kalat. The initiative aims to improve irrigation systems, increase agricultural income, and promote sustainable water use.

Additionally, ECNEC approved two major road infrastructure projects: the revised construction of the Ziarat Mor–Kach–Harnai (109.882 km) and Harnai–Sanjsavi (55.834 km) roads, along with a new 110 km road from Chidaghi (Iran border) to Panjgur.

Umrani said that improved road networks will significantly enhance transportation facilities for the public, boost trade routes, and strengthen economic ties with neighboring countries. He emphasized that these projects will play a vital role in Balochistan’s connectivity, agricultural development, and long-term economic growth.
