Military Seizes Control in Guinea-Bissau, President Ousted

Bissau: The army in Guinea-Bissau has removed the president and taken full control of the country, suspending the electoral process nationwide, according to AFP.

Reuters reports that a group of senior military officers announced on Wednesday that they had ousted President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and suspended the country’s disputed electoral process. The officers stated that clarifying the situation is necessary before restoring constitutional order.
