Underage and Untrained Drivers Endanger Roads: Police Crack Down on Parental Criminal Negligence

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — In order to ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws in the city, protect the lives and property of citizens, and prevent the rising number of road accidents, Traffic Police has further intensified its operations against those driving without a driving license, without necessary documents, and underage drivers. Fines are being imposed on traffic law violators in accordance with the law, while special checking is also underway on various highways and major intersections.

According to the spokesperson for Balochistan Police, during the last two months, a total of 9,607 driving licenses were issued, while fines amounting to Rs 11,648,700 were collected for traffic law violations during the same period. The fines were imposed for various types of violations, including driving without a license, illegal parking, driving in the wrong direction, and underage individuals driving vehicles, motorcycles, and tractors.

The spokesperson said that the primary objective of strict enforcement of traffic laws is to provide citizens with a safe travel environment and to significantly reduce the rate of traffic accidents. According to him, underage children riding motorcycles is becoming a serious problem, as a result of which not only their own lives are endangered but the lives of other citizens are also put at risk.

He said that underage drivers generally lack the proper ability to deal with traffic laws, road etiquette, and emergency situations, due to which the chances of accidents increase manifold. For this reason, Traffic Police is running a special campaign against underage motorcyclists, and parents are also being urged to demonstrate responsibility in this regard.

The spokesperson for Balochistan Police also appealed to parents not to allow their underage children to ride motorcycles or drive any kind of motor vehicle and to ensure compliance with the law. He said that allowing children to drive at an underage not only puts their lives at risk but also poses dangers to others, and can also lead to legal action.

Traffic Police has urged citizens to obtain a proper driving license before driving a vehicle or motorcycle, keep all necessary documents with them, fully abide by traffic laws during travel, and mandatorily use helmets while riding motorcycles. Citizens have also been directed to ensure compliance with speed limits, lane discipline, and traffic signals for their own and others’ safety.

Quetta Traffic Police distributed awareness pamphlets regarding traffic laws among citizens. On this occasion, citizens were appealed to abide by traffic laws, demonstrate responsibility, and ensure their own and others’ safety on the roads.

The spokesperson further said that public cooperation is indispensable for improving the traffic system, preventing accidents, and protecting the lives and property of citizens. He appealed to citizens to follow traffic laws to avoid fines and legal action and to prove themselves responsible citizens so that a safe and organized traffic system can be promoted in the city.
