Asad Qaiser Says Supreme Court Has Been Rendered Ineffective, Rejects Constitutional Amendments

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has claimed that the Supreme Court has been made “non-functional,” stating that when the executive controls the appointment and transfer of judges, the judiciary cannot deliver impartial justice.
In a statement on X, he said the process of subordinating the judiciary to the executive was initiated through the **26th Constitutional Amendment** and “completed through the 27th Amendment.” He added that the current parliament lacks a public mandate; therefore, PTI does not accept these amendments.
Asad Qaiser reiterated that PTI, under the platform of the *Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz Aeen-e-Pakistan*, will resist what he called “unconstitutional amendments” and vowed to restore the 1973 Constitution to its original form. He said the constitution is the only binding agreement that unites the federation and all its units.
The PTI leader also prayed for the complete and speedy recovery of Shah Mahmood Qureshi, praising him for steadfastness and loyalty to Imran Khan’s ideology. Qaiser said Qureshi has been facing imprisonment for two years “despite being innocent,” and has shown exemplary courage, patience, and resolve.
