Islamabad Suicide Blast a ‘Wake-Up Call’, We Are at War: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister **Khawaja Asif** has termed Tuesday’s **suicide blast outside the G-11 district court in Islamabad** a “wake-up call,” saying that Pakistan remains in a state of war against terrorism.

At least **12 people were martyred** and over **20 others injured** when a powerful explosion ripped through the area outside the district courts on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post on social media platform **X (formerly Twitter)**, the Defence Minister said, *“Those who think the Pakistan Army is fighting only in border regions or remote areas of Balochistan need to wake up. Today’s suicide attack in Islamabad is a reminder that this war belongs to the entire nation.”*

Khawaja Asif added that the Pakistan Army is **sacrificing lives daily** to ensure the safety and confidence of the people. He further remarked that **expecting successful negotiations with Kabul’s rulers** under the current circumstances is futile.

According to him, the Afghan government **has the capability to prevent terrorist activities in Pakistan**, but allowing terror to reach Islamabad sends a clear and hostile message — one that Pakistan has the full ability to respond to.

Security sources claim the attack was **carried out by a proxy group backed by Indian-sponsored Afghan elements**. The suspected suicide bomber’s head was reportedly found at the site after the explosion.

Rescue teams quickly moved the injured to **PIMS Hospital**, where several victims remain in critical condition. Law enforcement agencies have sealed off the area and launched an investigation.

Defence Minister Asif reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve, stating that the country **will defend its sovereignty, security, and peace at all costs**, and that the war against terrorism **will be fought to the very end**.
