NADRA Launches Major Crackdown in Balochistan: Over 100 Afghan Nationals’ ID Cards Blocked, Strict Action Announced Against Facilitators
**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has intensified its crackdown against Afghan nationals and their local facilitators across Balochistan. In the latest operation, **more than 100 identity cards have been blocked**, including those belonging to six families in Quetta and five in Qila Abdullah, after being found involved in fraudulent registrations.
According to NADRA officials, these individuals allegedly helped Afghan citizens obtain Pakistani identity cards by falsely registering them as local residents. Following the detection of dozens of such cases, the authority has accelerated its verification process. The areas in Quetta where the most suspicious ID cards have been blocked include **Hazara Town, Mariabad, Raisani Road, Pashtunabad, Brewery Road, and Sariab Road**. Similar operations are also underway in Pishin, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, and Zhob districts.
Special investigation teams have been formed to **reassess family trees** in which Afghan nationals were allegedly shown as part of Pakistani families. Officials confirmed that the crackdown now also targets **fake and suspicious passports**, with comprehensive data shared with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Acting on NADRA’s findings, the FIA has launched search operations across Balochistan.
NADRA warned that **any Pakistani citizen found facilitating Afghan nationals** in obtaining identity documents will face severe penalties — including a **fine of up to Rs 3 million, five years’ imprisonment**, and **cancellation of all family ID cards**.
The authority has issued a public notice instructing all affected individuals to report to their respective NADRA zonal offices within **15 days** with valid documentation; otherwise, unilateral action will be taken.
The sweeping operation has created **widespread concern among residents**, as some local families fear being affected due to clerical errors or mistaken verifications in NADRA’s database.
