PB-42 Quetta Turns into Ruins: Residents Decry Neglect, Threaten Strong Protest over Lack of Basic Facilities

Quetta: Residents of **constituency PB-42** in the provincial capital are facing **severe hardships** due to the **absence of basic civic amenities**, as the area has reportedly turned into **a state of ruins**. Despite the passage of more than two and a half years, **no development work** has been initiated in key neighborhoods, including **Joint Road, Killi Alam Khan, Alamo Chowk, Shabo, Afnan Town, and Idrees Bagh**.

Locals expressed outrage, pointing out that while **billions of rupees are being spent on beautifying the Airport Road**, the adjoining areas — **Killi Alam Khan, Alamo Chowk, and Afnan Town** — are deprived of fundamental necessities such as **paved roads, functioning sewage systems, and streetlights**. Roads are riddled with **potholes**, and **blocked drainage lines** have made living conditions miserable.

Residents said that **even light rainfall floods the area**, turning streets into ponds due to the **lack of a proper drainage system**. Garbage piles along roads in **Killi Alam Khan and Jinnah Town** have caused **foul odors and health hazards**, with the spread of diseases becoming increasingly common.

The locals also criticized their elected representative, **Mir Liaquat Lehri**, accusing him of **disappearing after the elections** despite promising major improvements in roads, water supply, electricity, and sanitation.

Citizens have demanded the **Government of Balochistan** to take **immediate action** and launch development projects in the neglected constituency. They warned that if their grievances remain unaddressed, they will be forced to launch **strong protests** against the authorities.
