Punjab Assembly Approves Tourism and Heritage Authority Act 2025

Lahore: The Punjab Assembly has passed the *Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority Act 2025*, paving the way for the establishment of a new authority to promote tourism and preserve cultural heritage across the province.
According to the bill, the Chief Minister will serve as Chairperson of the Authority, while the Minister for Tourism will act as Vice Chairperson. The Secretaries of Tourism, Finance, and Planning & Development will serve as members.
The Authority will formulate policies and guidelines to promote tourism and heritage, working in coordination with relevant departments. It will develop eco-tourism and environmentally friendly tourist destinations, conduct mapping of tourist sites, and compile related data.
The Authority will also have the power to establish a code of conduct for tourism, organize international seminars and workshops, and impose fines for violations of its regulations.
Additionally, the Authority will encourage public-private partnerships, form inspection teams, and have the authority to reclaim encroached tourist sites. The Director General will act as the Chief Executive Officer, empowered to manage the Authority’s operations and budget.
The *Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority Act 2025* will come into effect following final approval by the Governor of Punjab.
