PM Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in London After Concluding Saudi Visit

LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached London after completing his official visit to Saudi Arabia. Upon arrival, he moved to his residence in Central London. During his stay, the premier is scheduled to meet British officials and members of the Pakistani business community. He will also address an event organized by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation on Saturday.
Earlier, PM Sharif made a brief stop in Geneva, Switzerland, where he visited former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to inquire about his health. Sources revealed that Shehbaz Sharif also briefed Nawaz Sharif on the details of the historic Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense agreement. Nawaz, who is currently undergoing medical treatment in Geneva, is expected to travel to London in the coming days.
According to close aides, federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, and Atta Tarar have also accompanied the Prime Minister to London. After wrapping up his UK visit, the Prime Minister will proceed to the United States, where a meeting with President Donald Trump is anticipated.
**UN Envoy on PM’s Upcoming US Visit**
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, told Geo News that during his US trip, PM Sharif will highlight Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, Palestine, and the Middle East—particularly the recent attack on Qatar. He added that the Prime Minister will address the UN General Assembly as well as participate in a special UN session on Gaza.
Speaking to Geo News correspondent Azeem M. Mian in New York, the envoy noted that the recent resolution on recognizing Palestine as a state received nearly one-third of the votes, which has increased pressure on Israel and its allied countries.
