Preserving Gwadar’s Heritage: GOC 44 Special Security Division Visits Historic Omani Fort

Maj Gen Habib Nawaz Commends GDA’s Restoration Projects as Key to Sustainable Development and Tourism Promotion Restoration of Omani Fort, Charpadgo, and Watchtowers Underway — Heritage Preservation a Top Priority: DG GDA

**Gwadar (Daily Qudrat Quetta)** — **Major General Habib Nawaz**, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 44 Special Security Division of the Pakistan Army, visited the **historic Omani Fort** in Gwadar along with **Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Moin-ur-Rehman Khan** to review ongoing restoration and preservation efforts.

During the visit, Maj Gen Habib Nawaz inspected various sections of the Omani Fort, the museum, and GDA’s ongoing development and restoration works. He appreciated GDA’s initiatives for preserving the city’s historical and cultural heritage, terming them **vital for Gwadar’s sustainable future and the promotion of tourism.**

DG GDA **Moin-ur-Rehman Khan** briefed the GOC that under the **Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan**, the authority is not only focusing on modern urban development but also on safeguarding the city’s cultural and historical identity through a comprehensive preservation program.

He further informed that the project includes the **restoration and rehabilitation of the Omani Fort, Charpadgo, Telegraph Office, Omani Watchtower, and Portuguese Watchtower**, which are being executed with quality and speed.

The DG emphasized that the aim of these initiatives is to **preserve Gwadar’s historic and cultural heritage for future generations** while simultaneously enhancing the city’s beauty and boosting its appeal as a **prominent tourist destination.**
