Protection of Journalists Is a Top Government Priority; Freedom of Expression Must Be Respected, Says Balochistan Chief Minister

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta)** — Balochistan Chief Minister **Mir Sarfraz Bugti** has emphasized that **free, responsible, and safe journalism is the cornerstone of a democratic society**, reiterating his government’s commitment to ensuring a **secure and enabling environment** for journalists across the province.

In his message marking the **International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists (November 2)**, CM Bugti said journalists play a **vital role in uncovering facts, raising public awareness, and guiding society**, and therefore, **their protection remains the government’s foremost priority**.

He added that the Balochistan government is **taking concrete steps** to enhance journalists’ safety, welfare, and access to justice, ensuring they can perform their professional duties **without fear or restriction**.

CM Bugti stressed that **violence, intimidation, or pressure against journalists have no place in a civilized society**, stating, “**Difference of opinion is the beauty of democracy, and safeguarding press freedom is our collective responsibility.**”

He expressed confidence that Balochistan’s journalists will continue to serve the public with **professional integrity, neutrality, and a strong commitment to truth and accountability**.
