Pakistan, Canada Explore Cooperation in Hybrid Seeds and Livestock Development

Islamabad: Pakistan and Canada have begun discussions to enhance collaboration in hybrid seed technology, livestock breeding, and feed formulation. Both countries have agreed to strengthen agricultural cooperation, with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) playing a key role in promoting innovation and growth in the sector.

Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Canadian High Commissioner Tariq Ali Khan reaffirmed their commitment to expanding agricultural collaboration. The minister also proposed joint ventures for local manufacturing of agricultural machinery in Pakistan.

The introduction of canola cultivation is expected to modernize agricultural production, boost farmers’ incomes, and improve access to international markets. Partnership with Canada in agriculture and food security will help enhance Pakistan’s export potential globally.

Pakistan and Canada have also agreed to establish a **joint working group** to focus on certification, market access, and technical cooperation. SIFC’s effective policies continue to attract foreign investment, contributing to the strengthening of Pakistan’s economy.
