Probe Underway Into Viral Photos From Karachi Traffic Cameras: DIG Pir Muhammad Shah

Karachi:Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Karachi **Pir Muhammad Shah** has said that an **inquiry is underway** regarding two viral images allegedly taken from **traffic control cameras** showing people engaged in private activities.
Speaking on Geo News’ program *Report Card*, DIG Shah stated that the **investigation report is expected by Monday**, which will determine whether the images were indeed captured by **official traffic cameras or private ones**.
He also issued a warning to motorists attempting to **deceive traffic control systems by tampering with number plates**, stating that “those trying to avoid minor penalties are putting themselves into much bigger trouble.” He emphasized that **vehicles found using fake or tampered number plates will be blacklisted**, and **FIRs will be registered immediately** when such vehicles are caught.
Meanwhile, **Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon** has ordered a **strict crackdown across the province** against vehicles operating **without number plates**.
According to an official letter from the IG’s office, addressed to the **Additional IG Karachi, all DIGs, SSPs, and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC)**, a large number of vehicles without registration plates are being driven openly on roads. The letter instructs officials to **identify and take legal action under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance and relevant laws** against such vehicles.
The IG’s office has further directed that **daily progress reports** of the crackdown be submitted to **IG Sindh**.
