Complaints of Police Harassment, Extortion, and Intimidation Rise in Quetta — Pashtunkhwa MAP Urges IGP to Take Notice

*Quetta (Qudrat Daily)* — The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Quetta District Executive Committee has expressed serious concern over the growing complaints of **police harassment, extortion, and intimidation of citizens** in the provincial capital, calling on the **Inspector General of Police to take immediate action**.

The meeting, chaired by *Provincial Senior Vice President and District Secretary Syed Sharaf Agha*, was held at the party’s central secretariat. It reviewed preparations for the upcoming **52nd death anniversary of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai**, which will be marked with a central public gathering in Quetta.

Party leaders, including *Manan Khan Bareech, Surat Khan Kakar, Hayat Khan Mirzai, Hazrat Umar Advocate, Gul Khilji, Iqbal Batizai, Hafeez Tareen,* and *Azad Khan Khilji*, attended the meeting. Participants urged workers to intensify public outreach, display party flags, and prepare for the event through wall chalking and local conferences.

Addressing the session, party leaders condemned the **police and administration’s treatment of Afghan refugees and Pashtun citizens**, saying that **Eagle Squad and police personnel routinely detain and harass people from their homes, shops, and markets**, demanding bribes and threatening them.

They demanded that the **IGP immediately investigate** the matter and **take strict action against the officials involved**, noting that **Eagle Squad members are implicated in street extortion, abuse, and even violent crimes**.

Criticizing the provincial government, the leaders said that the **“Form 47 government” is completely indifferent to public issues**, while corruption, nepotism, and commission-taking are at their peak. “Roads are being torn up to extract commissions, while genuinely underdeveloped areas are ignored,” they added.

The leaders also **condemned the decision to hand over Quetta’s Agricultural University building to a private institution**, calling it an *anti-people and anti-education move* that reflects government mismanagement.

Expressing grave concern over the **rise in theft, robbery, drug trafficking, and street crimes**, they said citizens no longer feel safe even outside their homes. They highlighted a recent incident in *Haji Ghaus Alokozai neighborhood*, where *Haji Abdul Khaliq Achakzai* and *Maulvi Manan Sahib* were injured by robbers’ firing, criticizing police inaction.

They warned that **drug addiction has spread to every street and neighborhood**, urging the government to **establish rehabilitation centers and provide proper treatment facilities** for addicts.

The meeting also condemned **gas load-shedding and prolonged power outages by QESCO**, labeling them *anti-public measures*. The party demanded an end to gas suspension after 10 p.m. and called on QESCO authorities to stop mistreating consumers and address **up to 18-hour power outages**.

Finally, it was announced that the **next district committee meeting will be held on November 1 at 3:30 PM** at the party’s central secretariat in Quetta.
