Karachi Sees Over PKR 13 Million in E-Challans Within Just 6 Hours

Karachi: Following the official launch of the electronic challan system, Karachi Traffic Police have issued a total of 2,662 e-challans amounting to over PKR 13 million.

According to DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah, in just six hours, traffic violations worth more than PKR 13 million were recorded. The breakdown of e-challans includes 419 for overspeeding, 3 for lane violations, 4 for crossing stop lines, and 1,535 for not wearing seat belts.

Additionally, 166 challans were issued for running red lights, 507 for riding motorcycles without helmets, 4 for driving the wrong way on one-way streets, and 7 for vehicles with tinted windows. Other violations included 5 for illegal parking, 32 for using mobile phones while driving, and 3 for driving in the wrong direction.

The traffic police noted that the system’s technical aspects were still being refined on the day of launch, and it has now become fully operational.

DIG Traffic emphasized that the e-challan system is a significant step toward ensuring adherence to traffic rules and enhancing effective monitoring. He urged citizens to comply fully with traffic regulations to improve the city’s traffic system and reduce accidents.
