“Maulana Fazlur Rehman Is Calling Out His Ally Nawaz Sharif – I’m Speaking, Why Are You Silent?” – Muneeb Farooq

LAHORE – Journalist Muneeb Farooq has commented on the growing political distance between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, saying that the JUI-F chief is calling out his old ally over his silence while the government continues to ignore commitments made to him.
In his vlog, Farooq observed: “Maulana Fazlur Rehman is calling out his old companion Nawaz Sharif – ‘I am speaking, so why are you silent now?’ The reality is that promises made to Maulana sahib have not been fulfilled. He is hurt, and that is why he is speaking out.”

He further noted that all promises made to Nawaz Sharif have been honored – his brother holds power in Islamabad and his daughter in Punjab. For now, there appears to be little chance of Nawaz Sharif issuing any strong statements against the government.
Farooq highlighted the vast political differences between the two leaders at this juncture. “The government is running with full authority. Will Nawaz Sharif just come out and deliver a harsh statement like that? One never knows – anything can happen in this country – but for now, no such signs are visible. There is nothing to suggest an outright confrontation is imminent. So Nawaz Sharif is also waiting, and perhaps he is even pleased listening to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s rhetoric.”
