Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch Inaugurates Agricultural Fair in Turbat to Promote Local Farming and Date Industry

Turbat:Former Chief Minister of Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly **Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch** inaugurated a **one-day Agricultural Fair** organized by the *Social Enterprises Platform* at *Circuit House Turbat*.

The event aimed to **promote local agricultural products**, particularly **dates**, introduce **modern farming techniques**, and **connect farmers with business opportunities**.

Addressing the ceremony, **Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch** said that *dates are the backbone of Kech’s economy*, providing livelihoods for thousands of families. He emphasized that Balochistan—especially the Makran region—has vast potential in **date cultivation, processing, and export**, which must be developed on an industrial scale.

He further noted that such agricultural fairs will **benefit farmers and entrepreneurs**, helping to **strengthen the local economy**. “The prosperity of Balochistan depends on the development of agriculture, fisheries, and local industries,” he added.

The event was attended by **former Senator Akram Dashti**, **Turbat Mayor Balakh Sher Qazi**, **Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Shoaib Nasir**, government officials, social activists, farmers’ representatives, and a large number of citizens.

At the conclusion of the fair, **Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch** and other guests visited stalls showcasing **agricultural products, various date varieties, livestock, and handicrafts**.

The fair was organized by the **Makran Social Enterprises Platform** in collaboration with the **District Administration Kech**, **Municipal Corporation Turbat**, and the **European Union** under the **GRASP Program**.
