Over 280,000 Patients Receive Free Treatment Under Balochistan Health Card Program

Program extended until November 2026 to support poor and middle-income families

Quetta: Over 280,000 patients across Balochistan have received free medical treatment under the province’s Health Card Program during the past two years, according to official data released by the Balochistan Health Department. The initiative, launched on **November 4, 2023**, aims to provide quality healthcare services to underprivileged citizens.

The department’s report revealed that **48,000 patients underwent dialysis**, while **37,000 women** benefited from **maternity and C-section services**. Additionally, **10,000 cardiac patients** received treatment — including **5,500 angioplasty procedures** — and more than **4,500 cancer patients** were provided **chemotherapy sessions** free of cost.

The Health Card Program is currently active across all districts of Balochistan, enabling citizens to access free treatment at both public and private hospitals. Officials say the program has significantly improved healthcare accessibility and quality across the province.

The provincial government has announced that the **Health Card Program will continue until November 2026**, ensuring sustained support for poor and middle-income families struggling with medical expenses.

Civil society and social welfare organizations have lauded the initiative as **a people-friendly measure**, urging the government to **expand public awareness campaigns** so that more eligible citizens can benefit from the program.
