Pakistani Tech Genius Makes History — U.S. Firm Acquires Rehan Jalil’s AI Company for $1.7 Billion

Silicon Valley / Karachi:Pakistani-American engineer **Rehan Jalil** has made global headlines after his AI security startup **Securiti.AI** was acquired by the U.S.-based software group **Veeam** for a staggering **$1.7 billion (approximately PKR 477 billion)**.

The deal is being hailed as one of the largest **data security and governance acquisitions** in the world. Under the agreement, Securiti.AI’s cutting-edge **AI governance tools** will be integrated into Veeam’s enterprise product suite.

Following the acquisition, **Rehan Jalil** has been appointed **President of Security and AI** at Veeam — a testament to his leadership in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity innovation.

A graduate of **NED University Karachi**, Jalil earned his **Master’s in Electrical Engineering** from **Purdue University** and completed an **Advanced Management Program** at **Harvard Business School**.

Known as a **serial entrepreneur**, Jalil has founded multiple successful tech startups:

* **WiChorus**, a mobile packet core technology company acquired by **Tellabs** for **$180 million**.
* **Elastica**, a pioneer in Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) technology, which merged with **Blue Coat** for **$280 million**, later acquired by **Symantec** in a **$4.7 billion** deal.

At Symantec, Jalil led the **Cloud Security Business Unit**, achieving record growth for eight consecutive quarters.

His latest venture, **Securiti.AI**, developed a **Data Command Center** that unifies **data security, privacy, governance, and compliance** across hybrid multi-cloud environments. The platform ensures the **safe deployment of generative AI**—a key foundation for the digital economy of the future.

Industry experts describe this acquisition as a **landmark moment** for Pakistan’s technology community.

In a statement, **Rehan Jalil** said:

> “Pakistani youth possess incredible creativity and potential. With the right opportunities and confidence, they can compete with anyone in the world.”

Jalil also serves as a **Venture Advisor at Mayfield Fund** and continues to mentor and invest in emerging startups in **Silicon Valley**.
