KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released its first-ever Research Agenda for the period 2026–2029, outlining the central bank’s key research priorities in response to the rapidly evolving global and domestic economic landscape.

According to the SBP, the agenda focuses on three strategic themes: inflation dynamics and monetary policy, financial sector deepening, stability and efficiency, and structural transformation for sustainable economic growth.

The central bank stated that the research agenda is designed to address existing knowledge gaps and support informed macroeconomic policymaking. It aims to strengthen evidence-based research that can contribute to more effective economic and financial policy decisions.

In a statement, the SBP said the agenda also highlights the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing to tackle emerging challenges facing the economy and financial sector.

The central bank emphasized its commitment to fostering partnerships among academics, policy researchers, government institutions, and other stakeholders at both individual and institutional levels.

The initiative is expected to promote high-quality research and encourage greater cooperation between policymakers and the research community, helping Pakistan better navigate future economic challenges.
