New Procedure for Transfer of Industrial Electricity and Gas Connections Implemented

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has implemented a **new procedure for the transfer of industrial electricity and gas connections**, effective from **October 22, 2025**.

According to the latest sales tax notification issued by the FBR, changes in **National Tax Number (NTN)** and **Sales Tax Registration Number (STRN)** for industrial consumers will now be subject to official approval.

Under the new system, applicants must submit a formal request to the **relevant commissioner**, who will verify the business details before granting approval. The transfer of electricity or gas connections will only be permitted after verification and on the commissioner’s recommendation.

The FBR has directed all concerned departments and utility providers to ensure **strict compliance** with the new procedure.
