Gaza Peace Deal: Hamas Frees 20 Israeli Hostages in Exchange for 1,700 Palestinian Prisoners

Gaza: Under the newly brokered Gaza peace agreement, Palestinian resistance group Hamas has released all 20 Israeli hostages, while Israel has begun freeing more than 1,700 Palestinian prisoners.

According to Arab media reports, Hamas freed the hostages in two phases — seven in the first and thirteen in the second. Israeli media further reported that Hamas will also hand over the bodies of 28 deceased Israeli captives to Israeli authorities.

Meanwhile, Palestinian prisoners released from Israeli jails are being transported by buses to Gaza and the West Bank. Many of them will receive medical treatment at Al-Nasr Hospital in southern Gaza upon arrival.

The formal signing ceremony for the Gaza Peace Accord is scheduled to take place today in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh. World leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, are attending the historic event, which aims to mark the beginning of a new phase of peace in the region.
