Balochistan Chief Secretary Chairs Key Meeting on Upcoming Polio Eradication Campaign

QUETTA:Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired an important meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign. The session reviewed the arrangements and strategies for the drive.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources to eradicate polio and that all stakeholders are working together to protect children from the threat of the virus. He emphasized that complete eradication of polio is possible only through effective planning and coordinated efforts.

*“The government is determined to eliminate polio from the province. Parents must also cooperate to ensure the success of the campaign,”* Khan said.

Provincial EOC Coordinator Inam ul Haq gave a detailed briefing on the steps taken for the campaign. He informed the meeting that 22 out of 23 environmental samples collected from Balochistan tested negative for the poliovirus. He added that from September 1, a province-wide campaign will be launched in 26 districts, targeting over 2 million children for vaccination. No polio cases have been reported from Balochistan for the last 10 months, he further highlighted.

Special focus of the campaign will be on areas where environmental samples tested positive. The Chief Secretary formally launched the campaign by administering polio drops to children.
