Key Details Emerge About KP Chief Minister Nominee Suhail Afridi

Inquiry already underway against PTI’s nominated CM in FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing, sources reveal

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to replace Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur with Suhail Afridi as the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afridi, who comes from a middle-class background, is known to have close ties with PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to details, Suhail Afridi previously served as the provincial president of the Insaf Student Federation. He was elected as a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for the first time in February 2024 from constituency **PK-70 Khyber-II**. Running as an independent candidate, he joined PTI after his victory and was later appointed as **Special Assistant for Communications and Works**.

Following the recent cabinet reshuffle, Afridi was promoted to a full minister and given the **portfolio of Higher Education**.

However, sources have revealed that an **ongoing inquiry is being conducted by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA)** against the nominated Chief Minister. Afridi is accused of making **inflammatory statements against government institutions and officials**.

The **FIA Cyber Crime Wing in Peshawar** is currently handling the investigation. Despite the pending inquiry, PTI leadership appears determined to move forward with Afridi’s nomination as the next Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
