Fake SMS Alerts Target Karachi Residents With Bogus Traffic Fine Payment Links

Karachi: Fraudsters have begun sending **fake SMS messages** to citizens in Karachi, falsely claiming traffic fines must be paid through mobile wallets such as Easypaisa, officials warned on Sunday.

According to a spokesperson for Karachi Traffic Police, these messages are **fraudulent, misleading, and have no link** with Karachi Traffic Police or any government institution.

Authorities clarified that the traffic police **never send fine payment requests from personal numbers** and urged citizens not to trust suspicious texts or click on unverified links.

“Please do not share personal details or make payments on these fake numbers,” the spokesperson said, adding that in case of any confusion, residents should immediately contact the **Traffic Police Helpline 1915**.

The department has advised citizens to remain vigilant against such **scams and phishing attempts** to protect their financial and personal information.
