PPP’s Liaquat Ali Lehri Alleges Retaliation After Raising Balochistan Issues in Assembly

Quetta:Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Parliamentary Secretary Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri has alleged that a **media trial and retaliatory campaign** have been launched against him after he raised public grievances on the assembly floor.

Speaking to the media ahead of the provincial assembly session, Lehri said, *“The ministry is a trust of the party; they may withdraw it whenever they wish. But I am an elected representative of the people, and I will continue to raise my voice for employment, peace, and the resolution of people’s problems.”*

He maintained that despite supporting the government’s initiatives as a PPP member, his speech in the assembly triggered a backlash. “This does not affect me. I came to the House to solve the people’s problems — to restore peace in Balochistan, provide jobs for youth, address traders’ and transporters’ grievances, and ensure citizens’ rights,” he said.

Lehri added that he regularly engages with businessmen, transporters, traders, and youth, as their issues require immediate attention. He emphasized that the goal is to bring peace to the province and resolve public concerns through the assembly platform.

The PPP lawmaker further revealed that **the party’s central leadership has contacted him** following the controversy and that he expects to meet them in the coming days. He assured that he will continue supporting positive government measures while pressing for the removal of public reservations.
