BSAC Condemns Crackdown on Students at Lasbela University, Announces Protest

Quetta:Member of the Central Executive Committee of the **Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC)**, **Fahad Baloch**, has strongly condemned the crackdown on students of Lasbela University of Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal, saying that peaceful students protesting against the administration’s “anti-education policies” were subjected to baton charge, firing, and unlawful arrests by university and local authorities.

Speaking at a press conference at Quetta Press Club alongside Ali Baloch, Waleed Baloch, Majeed Baloch, and others, Fahad Baloch said that educational institutions in Balochistan are in a state of decay, with rampant corruption, incompetence, nepotism, budget cuts, lack of infrastructure, shortage of teachers, and absence of basic facilities putting students’ future at risk.

He highlighted that seven students were suspended by what he termed a “so-called disciplinary committee” simply for organizing a literary program in memory of renowned Balochi poet and writer Mubarak Qazi. Instead of addressing students’ legitimate concerns, the administration rusticated some of them for one to two years, which he said was a blatant attack on education and students’ future.

“Students are being forcibly disappeared from hostels, harassed, and profiled,” he said, adding that several protesters were injured during the crackdown. He warned that if any harm came to them, the responsibility would lie with the university administration.

Fahad Baloch further noted that students of **Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar** are also staging sit-ins demanding scholarships, study tours, basic facilities, and better maintenance, while at **University of Balochistan, Quetta**, several departments—including Balochi, Brahui, and Pashto—are being shut down. He termed this an injustice to the Baloch and Pashtun communities and announced further protests against what he called systematic educational oppression.
