JI Leader Hidayat ur Rehman Holds State Institutions Responsible for Balochistan’s Unrest

Quetta:Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA **Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch** has blamed state and government institutions for the prevailing unrest, killings, and rising unemployment in the province.

Addressing various gatherings and delegations in Quetta, he said that the closure of the border has pushed nearly 2.5 million people into starvation. “Disappearances of citizens, rising violence in peaceful areas, and suppression of the people appear to be part of a deliberate conspiracy. Balochistan’s youth are dying while the government stands by as a spectator,” he remarked.

He vowed that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to struggle both inside and outside the assembly for the resolution of public issues, including the border closure, lawlessness, killings, military operations, and use of force against unarmed citizens.

The JI leader strongly condemned the police firing and violence against peaceful Baloch students at Lasbela University, which left several injured and led to arrests. He expressed complete solidarity with the affected students.

Referring to the recent killing of Advocate Zubair Baloch, former chairman of BSO Pajar, in Dalbandin, Hidayat ur Rehman said: “This is nothing but the government’s own action. The Balochistan government, instead of protecting citizens, has made raids on homes, targeting lawyers and peaceful people with bloodshed, a routine practice. This is open oppression, state brutality, and an unconstitutional act that is spreading further anxiety among the people.”

He demanded that those responsible for the killing of Zubair Baloch be brought to justice and held the government directly accountable for the incident.
