Balochistan Government Revives 90% of Closed Schools, Says Minister Khitran

BarkhanضProvincial Minister **Sardar Abdul Rehman Khitran** has said that the Balochistan government, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, is implementing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the education sector in the province.
He revealed that through teamwork between the provincial cabinet, the chief minister, and assembly members, **90% of previously closed schools have been reopened**, while teacher recruitment drives are actively underway. Just last week, 95 teachers were appointed in Barkhan alone.
The minister also highlighted scholarship programs introduced by the provincial government that enable Baloch students to pursue higher education at some of the world’s top universities on **fully-funded scholarships**. Additionally, 100 students secured admissions at Sadiq Public School on merit, outside the quota system.
Acknowledging that the impact of these educational reforms will take time to materialize, Khitran said decades of deprivation in Balochistan cannot be undone overnight. He accused certain elements and external forces of deliberately hindering the province’s development by spreading unrest, but vowed that the government would overcome these obstacles.
“Thousands of teachers have already been recruited and are serving in schools across the province. The results of these measures will soon be evident when the youth of the mountains return to the national fold through education,” he added.
