Former Lahore High Court Judge Justice (R) Shahid Jameel Joins Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan

Lahore: Former Lahore High Court judge **Justice (R) Shahid Jameel**, who resigned from his post some time ago, has officially joined the **Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan (TTAP)**.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside TTAP leaders, Justice (R) Shahid Jameel said he was pleased to become part of a movement dedicated to the **supremacy of the Constitution**. He stated that his decision to join the movement was motivated by his belief in upholding the Constitution.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s **consensus-based Constitution** was framed on the **Objectives Resolution**, with all federating units in agreement. “Unfortunately, efforts have been made against the Constitution, even in the same Parliament where it was drafted,” he remarked.

Justice (R) Shahid Jameel further said that **judicial independence** is a fundamental pillar of the Constitution, yet dictators repeatedly undermined it. “This time, under the guise of a hybrid regime, even parties that once championed judicial independence have compromised,” he added, expressing disappointment.

TTAP leader **Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar** highlighted that the main purpose of the press conference was to announce Justice (R) Shahid Jameel’s inclusion in the movement. Meanwhile, former National Assembly Speaker **Asad Qaiser** welcomed him, stating that his participation would strengthen TTAP.
