JI Balochistan Chief Vows to Raise Voice for Gwadar Fishermen and Citizens

Quetta – Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has vowed to raise his voice at every forum for the resolution of Gwadar’s fishermen’s and citizens’ fundamental issues.
Speaking at various gatherings and meetings with delegations in Gwadar, attended by officials and workers of the “Haq Do Gwadar” movement and Jamaat-e-Islami, he said that due to the neglect of Islamabad’s rulers, widespread corruption and commission mafias, and the disregard of genuine representatives, Balochistan has been turned into a land of crises and no-go areas.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman urged the government to take immediate notice of the grave problems faced by fishermen. He highlighted that illegal trawling is the most serious issue, rapidly depleting fish stocks and damaging the marine ecosystem. Large trawlers from Sindh and other regions, he said, use banned nets and even operate in coastal waters, leaving nothing for local fishermen. He pledged to work to halt these illegal practices.
He further stressed that local communities must be given priority in Gwadar port operations and development projects, with specific measures to safeguard the livelihoods of fishermen. He criticized security restrictions that force fishermen to wait for hours before going to sea, often resulting in their catch spoiling. “Fishermen must not be harassed in the name of security,” he added.
Maulana also pointed out that Gwadar’s water shortage and unannounced power cuts are severely affecting fishermen’s lives and work. He noted that despite repeated promises by the government, implementation on measures to resolve fishermen’s problems has been negligible.
He demanded an immediate end to illegal trawling, protection of fishermen’s jobs in development projects, removal of unnecessary restrictions on their movement, and urgent resolution of Gwadar’s water and power crises. He concluded by saying that fishermen are fighting for survival and will continue their struggle to secure their rights.
