High Flood in Indus River at Guddu and Sukkur, Water Levels Recede in Punjab Rivers

Lahore: Water levels in Punjab’s rivers have started to decline, but a high-level flood continues in the Indus River at Guddu and Sukkur barrages, submerging surrounding katcha (riverine) areas.

According to Federal Minister Moin Wattoo, the Chenab River at Panjnad is experiencing a low-level flood, with levels receding further. Meanwhile, the Indus River at Guddu and Sukkur is facing a high flood, while Kotri Barrage is witnessing a low-level but stable flood situation.

The minister further stated that Tarbela Dam has been filled to 100% capacity since August 27, while Mangla Dam is 95% full, with 4.30 feet of storage capacity remaining.

**Sindh Water Inflows and Outflows**
The Sindh Information Department shared updated water inflow and outflow statistics:

* Guddu Barrage: inflow 609,137 cusecs, outflow 580,927 cusecs.
* Sukkur Barrage: inflow 571,800 cusecs, outflow 518,120 cusecs.
* Kotri Barrage: inflow 300,853 cusecs, outflow 289,098 cusecs (rising trend).
* Panjnad: inflow 234,755 cusecs, outflow 229,905 cusecs.

**Punjab PDMA Report**

* Indus River: Tarbela 196,000 cusecs, Kalabagh 169,000 cusecs, Chashma 178,000 cusecs, Taunsa 161,000 cusecs (all normal).
* Chenab River: Marala 56,000 cusecs, Khanki 68,000 cusecs, Qadirabad 75,000 cusecs, Trimmu 80,000 cusecs, Panjnad 234,000 cusecs (medium flood).
* Ravi River: Jassar 8,000 cusecs, Shahdara 10,000 cusecs, Balloki 29,000 cusecs, Sidhnai 23,000 cusecs.
* Sutlej River: Ganda Singh Wala 101,000 cusecs (medium flood), Head Islam 81,000 cusecs (medium flood), Head Sulemanki 90,000 cusecs (low flood).

Authorities have warned that while water levels are stabilizing in Punjab’s rivers, the Indus River continues to pose a serious flood threat in Sindh.
