Balochistan’s Youth Trapped in Despair Amid Unrest and Joblessness: JUI Leadership

Quetta:Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan chief Senator Maulana Abdul Wassey and General Secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah have expressed grave concern over the worsening plight of youth in the province, saying that growing unemployment, deteriorating law and order, and government indifference have crushed their dreams and hopes.
In a joint statement, the JUI leaders said it is tragic that despite attaining higher education, thousands of young people remain jobless and are forced to live in misery. “Youth are the real strength and asset of any nation, yet in Balochistan they continue to be ignored,” they remarked, warning that if this neglect continues, the crisis will worsen beyond control.
They stressed that Balochistan’s issues cannot be resolved through symbolic statements or temporary measures but require bold decisions, concrete actions, and a comprehensive policy. The leaders urged the government to prioritize peace, create sustainable employment opportunities, modernize education and technical training institutions, and include youth in policymaking to ensure their active participation in shaping their future.
They also demanded that the province’s resources be recognized as the right of local people and spent on public welfare and development. Criticizing the current governance model, they questioned whether the government genuinely acknowledges bad governance as the root cause of the crises and if it has actually improved its governance or is repeating past practices of hollow announcements.
The JUI leaders added that Balochistan’s youth are capable of competing with their peers anywhere in the world, but they deserve recognition through employment, respect, and inclusion in national decision-making. They reiterated that without a true representative government and genuine sense of ownership for youth, the province’s crises will persist.
They concluded that JUI will continue its constructive struggle for the rights, dignity, and future of Balochistan’s youth and will not hesitate to make any sacrifice in this cause.
