Grand Jirga Held in Sibi to Promote Peace, Development, and Tribal Harmony in Balochistan

SIBI: A grand Jirga was held in Sibi with the participation of top provincial and security leadership, aiming to address Balochistan’s key challenges and chart a collaborative path towards peace, stability, and development.

The Jirga was attended by Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Corps Commander 12 Corps Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, IG FC Balochistan (North), IG Police Balochistan, Member National Assembly Mian Khan Bugti, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Balochistan, and tribal elders from the Sibi Division.

The primary focus of the Jirga was to develop a comprehensive and joint strategy for ensuring sustainable peace, accelerating developmental initiatives, and enhancing public welfare across the region. Tribal elders highlighted local issues and presented suggestions, which were assured to be addressed on a priority basis by the government and security institutions.

Governor Mandokhail emphasized that the progress and prosperity of the province is only possible through mutual cooperation among all stakeholders. He called for collective efforts to integrate Balochistan into the national development mainstream.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti acknowledged the significance of tribal traditions and the Jirga system, reiterating the government’s commitment to take all possible steps—alongside the public—to maintain peace and advance development.

Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan reaffirmed the continued support of the security forces in not only ensuring peace but also creating positive opportunities for the youth of Balochistan.

During the event, the expansion and structural improvement project of the Quetta-Dhadar (N-65) Road was also inaugurated. The road project is expected to enhance traffic flow and contribute significantly to the region’s socio-economic development.

At the conclusion of the Jirga, all participants agreed that sustainable prosperity in Balochistan is only achievable through strong cooperation between the government, security forces, and tribal leadership. Tribal elders pledged to play an active role in conflict resolution, promoting social harmony, and strengthening community bonds.
