University of Gwadar Holds 9th Academic Council Meeting

Gwadar:The University of Gwadar convened its 9th Academic Council meeting at the PCT\&VI Conference Room, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir.

The session was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Registrar Dr. Daulat Khan, Controller of Examinations Prof. Dr. Raheem Bux Mehr, Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dean of Sciences Dr. Mohibullah, Director Finance Rehmatullah, Director QEC Dr. Rabia Aslam, Chairman Department of Management Sciences Fida Hussain, Chairperson Department of Education Ms. Shehnaz Noor, Lecturer Education Mukhtar Bashir, Lecturer Computer Science Ms. Hame Gul, Librarian Ghulam Sarwar, and Director ORIC Muhammad Irshad.

Additionally, distinguished members joined the meeting online, including Mr. Jehanzaib, Additional Secretary Colleges, Higher and Technical Education Balochistan, and Dr. Fareeda Anjum, Director Curriculum, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

The council began by approving the minutes of the previous (8th) meeting and reviewing the progress on earlier decisions. The Quality Enhancement Cell presented its report focusing on educational reforms and student performance. Members reiterated their commitment to advancing academic standards and institutional growth.

Key approvals included the renaming of undergraduate degree programs, adoption of thesis formats and guidelines for BS programs, endorsement of faculty joint meetings, and necessary amendments to semester rules and regulations. The council also approved the implementation of a standardized enrollment numbering system for the university.

Furthermore, restructuring of student fees for degrees, transcripts, and other services was endorsed, along with the approval of the second Board of Studies proceedings of the Education Department and the fourth Board of Studies of the Computer Science Department. Deliberations also covered reserved seats for FATA students, establishment of a focal corner in the central library, and implementation of federal education policies.

Addressing the members, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir emphasized that the University of Gwadar, located in a city of strategic importance, is steadily emerging as a hub of academic and research excellence. He praised the dedication of the Higher Education Commission, Government of Balochistan, faculty, and administration for enabling the university’s rapid progress.

The meeting concluded with the Vice Chancellor presenting shields to Academic Council members in recognition of their valuable contributions.
