PTI Senior Leaders Issue Joint Letter from Jail, Relay Imran Khan’s Call to Prioritize Flood Relief

Rawalpindi: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mehmoodur Rashid, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema have issued a joint letter from Kot Lakhpat Jail, urging the nation to focus all efforts on helping flood victims, as per the message of PTI founder Imran Khan.
In their letter, the leaders highlighted that Pakistan is facing one of the worst economic crises alongside devastating floods that have wreaked havoc across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While KP has partially managed the situation and continues rehabilitation, Punjab remains severely affected.
According to the letter, 25 districts of Punjab have been hit hard by floods, leaving 2.5 to 3 million people affected. Experts warn that the number could double in the coming days, yet only 60,000 to 70,000 people have so far been relocated to safer areas.
The leaders said lives and livestock are being lost daily, with wheat, rice, maize, potato, cotton, and vegetable crops destroyed. As a result, wheat prices in the market have already doubled.
The letter further criticized the Punjab government’s performance, calling it “a reflection of complete failure.” It emphasized Imran Khan’s directive from prison that “all other work must be set aside, and the entire focus should be on assisting flood victims.”
