5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Multiple Regions of Pakistan, No Casualties Reported Yet

Islamabad:A powerful earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale shook various parts of the country late on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves through several cities and causing widespread panic among the residents.

The tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Swabi, Dera, Swat, Malakand, and Chitral, as well as in Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Battagram. People across these cities were jolted awake as the tremors shook buildings and rattled windows.

The earthquake struck at 4:13 AM local time, with a magnitude of 5.6. The intensity of the quake was such that many people rushed out of their homes in fear, some still in their sleepwear.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, with a depth of 69 kilometers. The tremors originated 108 kilometers east of the Afghan city of Kulfghan. In addition to Pakistan, tremors were also felt in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, as well as in parts of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The sudden earthquake caused widespread panic, with many citizens reciting religious prayers and rushing to open spaces for safety. Despite the intensity of the tremors, no reports of casualties or significant damage have been received so far.

Authorities have remained on high alert, and emergency services have been mobilized. Government officials have issued precautionary measures in anticipation of possible aftershocks, and local agencies are keeping a close watch on the situation.
