CM Sarfraz Bugti Announces Karbala’s Upgrade to Tehsil Status, Unveils Rs. 500 Million Development Package in Pishin

Pishin: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, addressing a public gathering in Killi Karbala, announced that Karbala would be upgraded to the status of a tehsil. He also declared a Rs. 500 million development package for Harmzai, Karbala, and Saranan.

Bugti said that equal development across all parts of Balochistan is his government’s mission, and public service is its guiding principle. He assured that no region would be left behind in deprivation.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the province’s severe challenges and limited resources but vowed to utilize natural resources through global investment and modern technology. Addressing concerns over the Mines and Minerals Act, he dismissed criticism as propaganda, emphasizing that Balochistan’s resources cannot be given away without the people’s consent. He further said the Act would be reintroduced in the assembly for consensus approval.

Among other major announcements, Bugti declared the upgradation of Karbala hospital to a Tehsil Headquarters Hospital under the management of Indus Hospital, construction of a 10-kilometer road to meet longstanding tribal demands, the establishment of an inter-college, and solar energy projects for the area. He also pledged to grant Karbala municipal committee status according to the law.

Bugti stressed that for him, there is no division between government and opposition—*“The entire Balochistan is my priority,”* he said. He added that under the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, Baloch youth are being provided opportunities to study in 200 universities worldwide.

Concluding his address, Bugti said, *“The manifesto of the Pakistan Peoples Party is public service. Greatness lies in Pakistani identity—if the country exists, we exist. Service and loyalty to the nation is true success.”*
