Major Terrorist Attack on FC in Bannu Foiled, Five Militants Including Suicide Bomber Killed

Bannu: Security forces successfully repelled a major terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) in Bannu, killing five militants, including a suicide bomber, after hours of intense fighting.

According to Express News, the clash with militants continued for several hours, during which heavy gunfire and explosions created panic in the surrounding areas. Police confirmed that five armed terrorists had infiltrated the FC Lines, triggering a fierce gun battle with security forces.

Nearby homes were damaged by gunfire and explosions, shattering windows and doors, while residents were left in fear. To secure the area, all routes leading to the FC Lines were sealed off during the operation.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Salim Kalachi, personally supervised the operation alongside a heavy contingent of police and Quick Response Units. Additional reinforcements were also deployed to ensure the militants were contained.

Security officials said the entire area was cordoned off, and a full-scale search and clearance operation was launched following the battle.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police confirmed that the attack had been thwarted, noting that the terrorists had planned a large-scale assault but were neutralized through timely action. He added that the clearance operation is still ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats.
