Skipping Breakfast May Weaken Bones, Increase Risk of Osteoporosis: Study

Karachi: A new study has revealed that **skipping breakfast can negatively impact bone health** and may increase the risk of **osteoporosis** over time.
Experts explain that breakfast usually includes foods like **milk, yogurt, eggs, or fortified cereals**, which are rich sources of **calcium and vitamin D**. Missing breakfast deprives the body of these essential nutrients.
Bones undergo a natural process known as **bone remodeling**, where they constantly break down and rebuild. Without proper nutrition at the start of the day, this process can be disrupted, leading to **weaker bones**.
Additionally, skipping breakfast raises levels of **cortisol**, the stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels can reduce **bone density**, making them more fragile.
Researchers also point out that people who regularly skip breakfast often fail to make up for the lost intake of **calcium and protein** throughout the day, which further contributes to long-term bone weakness.
