Embankments Being Cut to Protect Major Installations: Punjab Information Minister

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has said that embankments are being deliberately cut to protect major installations from floodwaters.
Speaking on Geo News program *Geo Pakistan*, Bukhari expressed hope that 250,000 cusecs of water would safely pass through River Ravi and Shahdara, while water levels at Head Qadirabad have already begun to recede.
She clarified that before embankments are breached, residents of nearby areas are being shifted to safe locations. “This time, along with people, livestock have also been moved to safety,” she added.
Bukhari urged citizens not to treat the floods as a spectacle. “People are standing on embankments watching the flood; this is not something to watch. All emergency supplies are available, but the public must cooperate with rescue teams and avoid any risky adventures,” she stressed.
