National Party Criticizes Delay in NFC Award and Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan

Quetta:The National Party held a detailed session at its central secretariat to discuss the political landscape of Pakistan and Balochistan, with a focus on constitutional rights, provincial autonomy, and human rights issues. The session included a question-and-answer discussion with the party’s Central Secretary General, **Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi**, who addressed queries related to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, missing persons, and federal-provincial relations.
Mir Kabir emphasized that the **18th Constitutional Amendment and the NFC Award** significantly improved the financial autonomy of the provinces. He criticized the continuous **delay in the formation of new NFC Awards**, stating that the Constitution mandates a new award every five years and that it must be **equal to or better than the previous one**. The failure to do so, he said, reflects the **central government’s dominance and disregard for provincial rights**.
He warned that any move to **redraw provincial boundaries or divide provinces** would be seen as an attack on historical national identities and territories. “Pakistan is a federation of four national units with distinct languages, cultures, and histories — any conspiracy to divide them will never be accepted,” he said.
Addressing the issue of **enforced disappearances**, he said:
> “The Constitution does not allow any citizen to be forcibly disappeared. The ongoing abductions of political activists in Balochistan are a clear violation of the Constitution and basic human rights. Unfortunately, the powerful have consistently trampled the law in this country.”
He reaffirmed that the **National Party would continue its struggle for the safe recovery of all missing persons**, stressing the need for justice and accountability.
Mir Kabir also spoke on the importance of **political unity** and coordination among democratic forces in the country. He announced that the party had formed a special committee to promote political dialogue and alliances in the interest of public welfare.
The session was attended by several senior party leaders, including **Central Information Secretary Ali Ahmed Lango**, **Chairman Mehrab Baloch**, **Mir Abdul Khaliq Baloch**, **Fida Jan Baloch**, **Gahram Aslam Baloch**, **Mukhtiar Baloch**, **Riaz Zehri Advocate**, **Qasim Ali Gajizai**, **Agha Hussain Shah**, **Khan Muhammad Silachi**, **Comrade Ghafar Qambrani**, **Sagheer Badini**, **Advocate Nisar Barkat Baloch**, **Roshan Khan Baloch**, **Arif Kurd**, **Malik Mohebullah Musa Khel**, **Waseem Baloch**, and others.
The event highlighted the National Party’s commitment to **democratic values**, **constitutional supremacy**, and **human rights**, particularly in the context of Balochistan’s long-standing grievances.
